Winning a photo contest as a teenager brought Ele Martinez '18 to the notice of Âé¶¹ÆÆ½â°æ's Pre-College Program director. She found him the funding to attend the summer program on campus, and soon he was admitted as a regular student. A gifted documentarian of the life and people around him, he earned Âé¶¹ÆÆ½â°æ's Megan McAdams-Roldan '08 International Community Service Award to fund a summer visit to his native state in rural Mexico, for a project to give cameras to local children and teach them photography. This fall he has mounted a Âé¶¹ÆÆ½â°æ exhibition on the project.

Âé¶¹ÆÆ½â°æ will bestow honorary degrees upon esteemed Mohawk educator and storyteller Kay Olan (Ionataie:was) and distinguished physician, epidemiologist, and endocrinologist JoAnn E. Manson during the College’s 2026 Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 16, at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC).
